Konsep Tarbiyah, Ta’lim, dan Ta’dib dalam Pendidikan Islam: Analisis Konseptual Berbasis Literatur Islam

Abstract

Islamic education aims for more than just the transfer of knowledge; it seeks to cultivate individuals who possess faith, knowledge, noble character, and spiritual awareness. However, in the evolution of modern education, the concept of Islamic education has often been narrowed to emphasize the aspect of instruction (ta’lim), while the dimensions of holistic nurturing (tarbiyah) and the cultivation of proper conduct (ta’dib) receive less attention. This study aims to analyze the concepts of tarbiyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib from the perspective of Islamic literature and to examine the relevance of integrating these three elements to establish a holistic Islamic educational paradigm. A qualitative approach utilizing library research methods was employed. Data were gathered from the Qur’an, Hadith, classical texts, books, and relevant scholarly journals. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis, involving the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that tarbiyah focuses on the comprehensive nurturing and development of human potential; ta’lim centers on the transmission and mastery of knowledge; and ta’dib emphasizes the cultivation of proper conduct (adab) and moral character (akhlaq). Although these three concepts differ in their specific emphases, they complement one another within the unified paradigm of Islamic education. The integration of tarbiyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib enables an Islamic educational approach that balances intellectual, spiritual, and moral aspects in the formation of a refined, civilized individual (insan beradab)
